Yesterday, I made banana muffins with Kendra. They were horrible. It's the second time I've used that recipe and each time it was gross. When will I learn? Kendra helped and it was fun. She mashed the bananas, put all the dry ingredients in, mixed it all up. I had to keep her away from the egg, but it all worked out. She learned how to measure flour and sugar and salt etc.
Well, tonight, she took it upon herself to make more muffins. She helped herself to a banana, peeled it, put it in a tub, grabbed a big spoon, mashed it, added some flour and then brought it to me and asked me to put it in the oven. LOL. They probably would have turned out better than mine.
Kendra is my beautiful daughter. She is learning more and more each day. Come take a look to see what she has been up to.
Bridges
We're in superstore and Kendra wanted me to pretend I was a bridge with my arms out wide. I put them down for just a second while reaching for something off a shelf. She screams out..."MOMMY... ARE YOU TRYING TO BE A BIDGE? (Say it out loud... what does it sound like? LOL)
Bedtime Woes
Kendra is three years old. She has never gotten out of bed on her own. I once told her that she wasn't allowed to get out of bed. I think she was about 20 months old at the time. Now, she will cry from her bed to get up. I have to go in and actually get her out of bed. I can't stand at the door and tell her to get out of bed because she won't. I have to go in there and sit beside the bed. She can do it on her own; she just won't.
That all changed a couple of weeks ago during nap. She actually got herself out of bed. Pretty cool that I didn't have to go in and wake her up.
Fast forward to tonight. She went to bed. All was quiet after a few minutes of song and bashing a plastic hammer into her bed. A while later, she got up by herself. She stood at her door with a HUGE grin on her face and told me that it wasn't bedtime.
So what am I to do? I had to think fast. I told her if she didn't get into bed, I was going to close the door and turn the light out and that she was to stay in bed. She seems to bed OK right now. She isn't sleeping, but she isn't out of bed.

Conversations with Kendra
Kendra: I want to go see my computer.
Me: Ya, maybe later. I like your new pants.
Kendra: They are for the computer.
Me: What?

Funny Kendra! (Crocs and Alligators)
Kendra was whining yesterday:
Kendra:"I only have 2 hands!"
Kendra to her 'Kitty' when we got in the van after daycare: "Kitty!!!!! I was worried about you!!! Let me take care of you!!! Everything will be all right!!!!"
Tonight we went to the mall to look for Crocs, without Daddy. She was singing, "Crocs! Crocs! Crocs! We're looking for Crocs! We're heading to the shoe store!" When we got home, I wanted to show Daddy that she knew what they were called:
me: Kendra, tell Daddy what your shoes are called
Kendra: Alligators!!!

Ear Infection
I know why she has been crying now. She has a wicked ear infection. John stayed home on Thursday because he was sick and the Daycare called me at work. Kendra had been crying for quite a while and wouldn't stop. John picked her up. By the time I got home she had a temperature of 39.7C. I gave her some tylenol and dragged her to the walk-in clinic. We got some antibiotics for her. The tylenol kicked in at the clinic and she felt a lot better and told me that the doctor made her better.
These antibiotics seem to sit with her a bit better. She has perked right up. With antibiotics in the past, she gets kind of dopey and won't eat. She still has an appetite!

Stuttering gone!
So she woke up on Saturday after her nap and poof! The stutter was gone. I don't know why it went or why it came... it's gone and that's what matters.
She's stuck on a story that I made up about a little birdie falling out of a tree. She wants to hear it over and over and over again.
At school, she's been crying for mommy in the afternoon the past few days. She's been sick with a cold so I hope that is just it and it goes back to normal.

Daddy's Smart
I can't remember what we were talking about but I told Kendra that Daddy was very smart! She said, "No, he's called John!"
Stuttering
Kendra has developed a stutter over the past week. It's strange. In one sentence, she'll repeat a couple of words again and again and again. I'll have to look it up. Probably nothing.
Bossy old goose.
Today at lunch John made Kendra a milk instead of juice. She put her hands on her hips and said, "I said I want juice, NOT milk!" I think she's becoming a bossy old goose.
Poo-cocks and Pee-cocks
We went to the Zoo over the break and when Kendra got back to school, she told them, "I went to the Zoo and and and and I saw a Poo-cock! A Pee-cock! A Poo-cock!" and then looked at me for the word.
Good job, Mommy!
Kendra: get my underwear out my butt!
Me: OK... (I pull it out)
Kendra: Good job Mommy!
Me: Ah, Thanks, Kendra!
Me: OK... (I pull it out)
Kendra: Good job Mommy!
Me: Ah, Thanks, Kendra!
All by herself! Go Kendra!
So Kendra was watching TV this morning. She'd been up late last night, but up this morning at regular time. She was rubbing her eyes, so I left her on the couch while I popped into the bedroom to check email. Dora ended and it was silent. I figured she had fallen asleep. (why I wondered that, I do not know, because she has never fallen asleep in front of the TV before.) Anyway, suddenly I hear the pitter patter of her feet running towards me. I jump up to greet her. She is naked from the waste down yelling, "I need stickers and stamps mommy!" She has a big smile on her face. I look around the living room expecting to find a puddle, but there was none.
I look in her little potty and sure enough she'd gone pee pee in it. Her pajama bottoms where next to the potty. Then she yells, "And I put my pull up in the garbage!" She had a huge grin on her face as she showed me her pull up in the garbage.
She isn't potty trained so this is a major break through for us. I can't believe it.

She's brilliant
So most mother's complain about the terrible twos.
BUT, Kendra's twos aren't terrible. She is brilliant. I say 'yes'. She says no. I say no, she says yes. I say up, she says down. I say big, she says little. I say mommy... she has to think. I say Daddy! She says... what about me????? OK, I guess the opposite of Mommy could be Kendra. LOL. She is brilliant. She knows her opposites very well.

My booger fell out!
Kendra's favorite saying these past couple of days:
"My booger fell out!!! HELP! HELP!"
(She wants us to wipe her nose)
This morning she screwed it up and said
"My nose fell out!!! HELP! HELP!"
LOL

I want earrings!
Kendra was playing/looking at an earing of mine. She started whining, "I want earrings. I want earrings. I want earrings.
I told her, "No."
Kendra continued, "I want earrings. I want earrings for my EARS!!"
I explained, "No, you have to have holes in your ears like mommy. You don't have any holes in your ears."
Looking confused and with fingers in both her ears, she replied, "I have holes!"
LOL... ya, but they are the wrong kind Kendra!

I've tried to video tape it but she gets stage fright. But she was belting it out the other night looking up at the stars in the Safeway parking lot. Very cute. She cracks me up. I asked her about the sleeping bunnies and she said, "Yes, mommy, sleeping bunnies!!!"
