Recitals and Concerts

Kendra has had two recitals recently.  For her Kindergarten, she did the Christmas concert and for ballet and tap, the recital was held down at the Esplanade... truly amazing.  Here are some videos.

Kindergarten

It's been way too long since I posted. Kendra started Kindergarten at the end of August and absolutely loves it. Her teacher, Mrs. F must be doing a great job. Kendra not only goes to before school care, but also after school care. At first, Kendra was a bit shy going in, but I made a deal with her. If she went in 5 times in a row without being shy... just a quick hug and kiss, we could go to Ruckers. It worked!

Kendra got some homework this week. She had to make a poster about herself. She glued on photos and made drawings. It looked great. I don't know how the sharing went. She told me I should have written on where her middle name came from. I wanted it to be her work, so I didn't.

That's all for now.

Off to the petting zoo

That is where we are going to today... the petting zoo at the windmill. I have a feeling that it is no longer there... but we'll see.

We also got a cat. His name is Jingles because he was born on Christmas day. He's a crazy cat but ok. I'm getting used to him. Kendra gets along great with him. She'll pick him up in strange positions and he just hangs there. Today she was pushing him around in the doll stroller!

Chili, pink dresses and ladybugs.

Last week while I was driving Kendra home from daycare she asked what was for dinner. I told her chili but she doesn't like it so she started whining, "I don't like Chili, I don't like Chili. Let's have chicken. I really don't like chili. Don't take it personally, I just don't like chili... lol.

This weekend was the first weekend of spring and Kendra was so excited. Wouldn't you know, it went from cold to warm on this day. Kendra figured it was warm enough for a dress so I put a little pink dress on her to go to school in. When we got there, 2 of her friends had pink dresses on too. Did they plan this?

We found 3 ladybugs in the garden on Saturday. Kendra loves the outdoors. She was searching all over the garden for them. There is still a bit of snow in the garden, but it was so warm. I think it got to 16 and was really sunny. We bought some bulbs this weekend and some seeds. Today we tried to plant some bulbs but the ground was frozen. We did plant some seeds in some starter pots.

Registration for Kindergarten

Today was the day to register Kendra for Kindergarten. I've really been debating which school to send her to. Riverside, Webster Niblock or Vincent Massy? I figured that WN was closest so I'd send her there, but it turns out, it's not the one for our area. So off I went to VM. Seems like a nice school. I'll call later in the year and get a tour for the both of us.

Kendra seems a bit nervous about it all. I'm more excited than she is.

Naming Baby Eggs

Kendra woke up this morning and started naming more of her baby eggs. One of them is Benny (Named after Benny the Bull of Dora). A brother for Jessica?

I really think that she thinks she's going to have a baby. I've been trying to undo that, but she is determined to have this baby.

Swimming

Today was a long day. We spent most of the morning playing hide and seek and other wonderful games that 4 year olds play. The afternoon was spent at the Leisure Centre, in the pool. Kendra loves it there.

We had arranged to meet a friend there, but she the kind of person who is always late. Can I even try to explain that to a 4 year old? It is so tough on Kendra. But of course, Kendra is excited when D shows up. Kendra was cranky for most of the day and it took everything from me to try to keep her happy. She'd been awake in the night and had then gotten up early. Late to bed, early to rise... makes Kendra very cranky. We made it through the day with Kendra trying to swim a bit and float. Also, D is the kind of person who likes to brag a lot. Shouldn't let my feelings get hurt, but they do. I just respond with 'Well, every kid is different'. She was going on about her nephew jumping in the water and not caring about getting water in his face. Kendra hates water in her face, but is getting better.

I ran into someone I went to school with. He didn't recognize me at first (I wouldn't either... LOL) But in the end, he did. It was good to see him.

This evening we spent some time at McDonald's and Wal-mart. Kendra had lots of fun running down the aisles, making the freezers and fridges turn their lights on. Kendra went to bed late again. We lose an hour sleep tonight, too, which I am NOT looking forward to. I need an extra hour sleep, not less.

Bones

So today she asks, "Do eyes have bones?" Where does she come up with this stuff. I can just see her brain turning, trying to answer life's questions.

Oh, I think she will be going to VM school. Even though it is not the closest, it is in our area. It has a wonderful playground and I hear Mrs. F is awesome. I'm sure any teacher will be awesome. There will be a bus at 7:50 which works well with my schedule. I'm excited for her and she's excited.

Another little girl from her daycare might go there too. So exciting!

More on Baby Eggs

So today she asked about her baby eggs again and if she really had them. I told her yes, but that they wouldn't become babies for 25 years.

At bedtime, we noticed her calendar hadn't been changed over to March so we changed it together. I read off the important dates which included the first day of spring. We counted the days till spring (14) and she was so excited! Then she asked very seriously while looking at her tummy, "How many more days till I get my baby?" I told her she had to be married before she had a baby.

Oh dear... what have I started?

Jessica

So I think I inadvertently made Kendra think she is having a baby. I'm not sure how it started, something about how 'humans' grow in a mommy's tummy and how we get bigger. I mistakenly mentioned 'eggs'. So that lead to her asking about them. I had to somehow explain that they weren't like chicken eggs and that they were smaller. She asked if boys had them in their tummies. I told her that only girls did. Girls had lots of them. It went on for a while... but that's most of it.

So today she asked again, "Mommy, do I really have baby eggs in my tummy?"
I answer, 'yes'. She goes on to tell me that she is going to name her baby, 'Jessica' but I try to correct her thinking and tell her that the eggs won't become babies for another 25 years... when she is ready. She still insists that one will be 'jessica' because that is her favorite name.

Oops.

I told John this evening what happened. All he said was that when she came asking questions again, he was just going to say, "Go ask Mommy." LOL

I got to go out this evening

Igot to go out tonight to a lady's house tom my board . Kendra gave daddy a bit of a hard time and didn't want to sleep. She kept coming out saying she was scared or couldn't find Kitty. Of course john fell for it. Who knows what time she really went to bed at.
